The suite was nice and spacious, but we noticed immediately there was limited bedding and toiletries for a family suite (these are designed for families but stocked as though only a single person or couple is staying in them). We had a family suite with a fireplace, kids bunk area and king bed. We pre-paid for a stay over Memorial Day this year for a night away. It is not as pricy for what you get at other places, and we feel like there is enough for all ages to enjoy. My family and I have been frequent visitors of Great Wolfe lodge for many years. The hotel has potential to be Disney-esque, but it needs to take the measures that Disney does to present a top notch experience. Please, GWL, fix and maintain what is already built. Ew! It could have been very pleasant if that area was kept cleaned and the doors maintained. Our room was on the first floor, and in the morning we discovered that our slider door handle was loose and that there was litter and discarded clothing items strewn across the lawn. Grandson also loved the evening dance party and meeting the characters! The Fireside Restaurant was adequate since we didn’t want takeout or to drive to a restaurant. Luckily, none fell in during our 1 night stay. The toilet itself was old and scratched, and the towels were stored above this “open water “ toilet. Our room was spacious and clean, but this grandma was disgusted by the lidless toilet (looked like a restroom toilet). That area was in the back and away from the main water rides so it was a good place to take a break. My toddler grandson enjoyed the kiddie areas, and our family kept our stuff on chairs near the mat slides. Once you are inside, the construction issues seem nonexistent. We stayed for 1 night enroute to another destination. Decor nice, service OK, food expensive with good portion size but "Meh" quality.… We ate in the Fireside restaurant which was nice and quiet after the waterpark. Our room was clean and just big enough for us three, with a small balcony with a view of construction, I'm sure by next year it will be better. Staff are working hard with a huge amount of people so don't expect any chit-chat. We took turns escorting our granddaughter up and down. Be prepared for "leg-day" work out as you will climb more stairs than you thought possible going up to slides. Our granddaughter spent 5+ hours on slides and was too tired to do anything else. If you are there for only a day skip all the non-swimming activities, focus on water slides. You get wristbands to wear during duration of stay that serves as room key AND charge card for incidental charges like food and activities besides swimming. Check in was a bit of a wait on a Wednesday afternoon, about 30 minutes. Lots of construction currently so parking is hard to find anywhere near lodge. Our room was ready 2 hours early which was nice. Good waterpark experience for Grandpa, Grandma and 5 year old granddaughter.
